ALG has been asked by the client to bring in Japan’ master architect, Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA)to design small resting and refresh shop at Shobu Parking Area to be located between Shiraoka Shobu IC and Okegawa-Kitamoto IC on newly connected Ken-O Expressway.
This new section of expressway completed on October 31, 2015 will be very significant for it will enable Ken-O Expressway to connect major Expressways connecting all parts of Japan. The client has won the competition held by NEXCO East Japan and went on to design this Parking Area. Although there were so many restrictions and conditions imposed by NEXCO, Kuma and ALG successfully completed new shopping and resting environment by proposing woody and new LED Pendant Light depicting Shobu (Iris) flower, their local symbol flower.
