The amorphous sculpture housed a collection of our works as part of the The jetzt | now series in the Berlinische Galerie. The custom tailored fabric structure filled the 150 m2 temporary exhibition space spanning between the four walls, and ceiling above. Visitors of the exhibition poke their heads through the fabric envelope, immersing themselves within the fluid space and vivid colour of the installation.
Within the spanning room a series of models, drawings and photographs of our projects were suspended. Through carefully orchestrated geometries the space was transformed into a vibrant and animated environment, creating a spatial phenomenon not normally achieved within an orthogonal space. The spatial installation juxtaposed the surrounding rooms of the Berlinische Galerie yet remained bound to building and ultimately inflecting it into itself to create a relationship of dynamism and contrast.
The interior was strategically programmed with works surrounding the orifices to enable the inhabitants to physically immerse themselves within the fluid orange envelope. The playful expression of material, geometries and functions which continues to drive the office’s design philosophy was mirrored by the sensorial and inspiring space of the exhibition architecture.
The jetzt | now series in the Berlinische Galerie, museum for contemporary art, architecture and photography features emerging positions from various artists who have not been previously shown in museums. As part of the 11th exhibition in the series, head-in | im kopf, was a solo exhibition of our work in the contemporary field of architecture and design.
