Chiselling the sensory environment of a scenic locale into a work of art, the Architects have sculpted a weekend home at Khadakvasla near Pune, a serene getaway perched high on the mountainous ridge. Its airy pavillion-like ambience is perfect for letting the landscape just flow through it. The house aims to capture the panoramic views that the house commands. The main living space has a 12.0M (36’-0”) clear span with 4.5M cantilever overhang. The roof leans into the southern rain direction and protects the verandah space, while opening up through a north light. The project harvests its rainwater into two underground tanks that make the house self sufficient for its domestic water needs. “The project has tried to gratify our design sensibilities and live up to the idea of a weekend haven which provides a spatial experience, blending architecture and landscape with minimal conflict.”
