The thirty-somethings at Humans Since 1982 have created the "A Million Times (Time Dubai)" installation for Design Days Dubai, running from March 18-21. The installation is made up of a grid of 288 black-and-white clocks that are synchronized via an iPad to create flowing patterns that congeal into the right time every minute. This short clip shows some of the mesmerizing effect that blend the analog and digital realms.
Humans Since 1982 have created the "Time Dubai" installation, part of their "A Million Times" project, for Design Days Dubai, running from March 18-21. Nearly 300 black-and-white clocks are synchronized via an iPad to tell the time and create flowing patterns in between each one-minute interval. This short clip shows just some of the mesmerizing effects that arise from hybridizing the analog and digital realms.
Thirty-somethings Per Emanuelsson and Bastian Bischoff of Humans Since 1982 strive to find beauty in the mundane, in this case from the repetition of a simplified clock face and the endless possibilities of their combination. The duo describes the installation as such: "With its two arms rotating around the center a clock always dances in slow motion. Shaping out this hidden quality without denying a clock's primary purpose was our goal."
