The "Wifi Campus" project creates a new urban structure between the train station and the city center by adding extensions to the existing Wifi building. The existing building plot between Grabenweg and Bahnhofstrasse is enveloped by two dynamically bent crescent-shaped structures as a quarter along the outer boundaries.
Due to the partly floating design of the building structures and the open center of the new quarter, a multiple permeable exterior space is created between the building structures as a new public - urban open space. The folded surfaces of the outdoor spaces follow the folding principle of the buildings and thus make the open space between the buildings tangible on different levels.
The two-storey open space, which is enclosed by the building along Bahnhofstrasse as a portal, functions as a generous entrance gesture to the quarter. This "portal area" is used publicly as a guest garden and as a center distributes the visitors to the entrances Wifi, gastronomy and tenants.
Inside the complex, the system of urban spatial entanglements is repeated. In the center is the event hall and the two-story gastronomy. Through transitions of one-and-a-half and two-story spatial bodies on different levels, the interior and exterior space can be experienced multiple times from every angle. The interior spatial relationships are revealed to the viewer as a whole.
The building envelope and the large wall elements of the catering and event areas form a dynamic linear bar code as a basic layout in reference to the dynamics of the spatial elements. Analogous to the framing gesture of the "portal", the entire volume of the central gastronomy area is framed by a space-encompassing ceiling-wall-seating element.
