A single-family house with four levels? That seems unusual at first, especially for a new building in a rural area. However, building “in the air” offers a lot of advantages.
The small building small building plot of the single-family house is located on a slope directly on the edge of the forest in the Schurwald community of Rechberghausen. In order to guarantee unobstructed views of the charming landscape in the long term with dense residential development in the surrounding area, a multi-storey solution was the obvious choice.
After clarification of the building regulations, a building was created which, even with four levels, conforms in all respects to the valid development plan. With its reduced architecture and façade design, the building has its own structural aesthetics, which in its clarity and restraint neither hides the individuality of the building nor emphasizes it with imposed details.
The entrance level at street level includes - in addition to a carport outside - a guest room and WC, as well as building services and cellar space. The first floor is the family center with dining area including kitchen as well as living area. The children have their rooms on the second floor, where the family bathroom is also located. In the top floor there is the parents' area with bedroom and terrace as well as areas for undisturbed working at home.
As a consequence, the gross floor area of 8.8 by 8.2 meters (around 72 square meters) means much less work on the roof structure and building foundations. In addition, far less natural soil is sealed. In terms of ecology and sustainability, solar collectors and heat pump technology complete the structural program.
