Fair sailing for business conferences – a hotel that sets its own course: A new building on the banks of the Weser River: a place for the business guests to meet, share ideas and feel at ease. Guests don’t have far to go for entertainment: a variety theater housed within the building complex can be accessed directly through the lobby, promising dry feet whatever the weather. The building’s exterior is decidedly contemporary. Its transparent façade is all Zeitgeist and technology. But there’s more to this hotel than meets the eye: a scent of ocean breeze hangs in the air over the retired wharves nearby.
Breaking with the monotonous cool design of so many new high-rises, the interior draws on contemporary and historical elements, juxtaposing natural materials with technology. Rusted surfaces meet stainless steel, matt lacquer finishes and polished stone complement raw driftwood. The color scheme: a canon of brown, rust red and orange tones. Recessed lighting elements glitter like waves splashing against the quay wall. The bar forms a transition to the restaurant, where the eye-catching floor coverings make waves.

Dining transformed - a restaurant with a double-life – As a rule hotel restaurants wear several faces. Mornings they welcome one and all as the vast majority of guests prefer to breakfast in-house and then freshen up in their rooms before venturing forth into the outside world. But dining in the same room on an evening can be something of an anti-climax and many guests prefer to seek their culinary comfort in more private settings. But if a restaurant’s design was versatile, what guest would pass up the opportunity to dine in-house late in the evening before slinking off to a peaceful night’s rest?
Our solution is highly flexible design: in the morning a breakfast buffet is stocked and serviced straight from the kitchen. Come nightfall and all that has vanished. Partitions and a different lighting concept land the restaurant a more intimate feeling in the evenings, revealing eye-catching back-lit wine racks. Where were they hiding this morning? The transformation is complete, creating a cozy, welcoming atmosphere.
