For the Mondial boutique hotel at Cologne Cathedral, more than 200 rooms and around 1400 square meters of public areas are being completely modernized and partially expanded. The interior design is inspired by local features. For example, the motif of Cologne Cathedral is reflected in various photographs and murals in the rooms. In addition, there is a playful approach to numbers, which can be found in many places in Cologne, to name just a few: Dreigestirn, 4711, 5. Jahreszeit. The combination of industrial and vintage style gives the MGallery an individual and modern look.
The lobby's welcome makes associations with the city's industrial history on the one hand and the open-minded Cologne mentality on the other. Life in Cologne is directly linked to the Rhine. This is reflected in the light line that shows the course of the river. The carpet underneath translates the city map of Cologne into colored areas. Owing to the hotel's traditional name "Mondial," which has always stood for the city's cosmopolitanism, guests are greeted by a custom-made globe in the entrance area.
The public areas have been restructured. In addition to the check-in and lobby area, there is now also a working area. This allows the available space to be used more efficiently for a wide variety of needs.
The floor plan in the rooms and suites has also been redesigned. The remodel opens up open and light-filled spaces that are now inviting and modern. Herringbone parquet flooring laid throughout provides an elegant eye-catcher. A transparent, partially glazed bathroom creates more brightness and space throughout the room. The bed is highlighted by indirect lighting and a colorful frame. Large pendant lights complete the room concept.
