Multi-family residence, Munich

 Back to Projects list
Location
Christophstraße 9, 80538 Munich, Germany

In Munich's Lehel district, a new multi-family house is being built that skillfully blends into the historic surroundings. The building on Christophstraße aligns in height and design with the surrounding Gründerzeit (late 19th century) buildings, particularly the neighboring listed building. The street-facing facade, designed in consultation with the heritage office, combines traditional design elements like cornices and pilasters with modern exposed concrete features. The use of natural stone and the elaborately designed base evoke the architecture of the Gründerzeit, giving the building a timeless elegance.

The rear of the house takes on a clear, contemporary design language. Large windows and metallic accents in a copper finish dominate this side, while expansive glass surfaces flood the interior with light. The roof features French dormers, elegantly reflecting the classic design and emphasizing the building's high-quality character.

Inside, the building is divided into six floors, with two to three apartments on each level. Some units on the lower floors span multiple stories, offering a modern maisonette concept. The ground-floor apartments have private gardens, while the upper apartments boast spacious terraces.

The interior design is characterized by high-quality materials: parquet flooring, large panoramic windows, and stylish exposed concrete elements create a balanced combination of modernity and elegance. A standout feature is the top floor with a gallery level, allowing for loft-style living. An underground garage provides additional convenience for the residents.
