ATLANTIC Hotel Heidelberg

Bahnstadt is a new district in Heidelberg that is the largest area of passive house standard in Europe. According to the plans of Winking Froh Architekten, the ‘Europaplatz’ is being created within the area. At the centre of the square is the ATLANTIC Hotel Heidelberg, which has also been designed with an energy-saving and sustainable construction method and is currently one of the world's first high-rise hotel buildings to meet the passive house standard. Spread over 15 floors are 310 hotel rooms and suites, 8 function rooms, a 350 m² ballroom, a large catering area with restaurant and rooftop bar on the 13th floor, a fitness and sauna area and an underground car park.

BRUMANN is responsible for the design and realisation of the room types and suites. The modern design is characterised by elegance and honesty, high quality craftsmanship and carefully selected materials. The concept of warm natural colours, paired with subtle shades of grey and green, harmonises with the light oak of the furniture. ‘The individual details and high quality craftsmanship give the rooms and suites an elegant, cosy atmosphere with feel-good charm,’ say the design team Doris Nothers, Alexandra Pfeifer and Helene Nußbaum. An exclusive design awaits guests in the 105 m2 Grand Suite on the 10th floor. A large living and meeting room with fireplace, spacious seating area and meeting table with integrated wall monitor. A separate pantry kitchen and a bedroom with adjoining large dressing room complete the Grand Suite. The design in dark-stained oak, high-quality wall panelling, metal surfaces in brass, black steel and dark chrome, backlit glass, marbled stone surfaces and cognac-coloured leather create an exclusive hotel experience.

The interior concept for the public areas was designed by OlufemiMoser from Munich. The realisation and implementation planning was carried out in close cooperation with BRUMANN, who also subsequently added the Smokers Lounge and the fitness & sauna area to the overall concept. ‘In order to adequately accommodate the international guests, we chose a cosmopolitan design that would also be justified in a large metropolis. Added to this are aspects such as quality, comfort and service, which are a matter of course in a four-star superior hotel anyway,’ says architect Christian Olufemi. Details are also important in the public areas. Throughout the hotel, accent colours such as red and green refer to Heidelberg's surroundings - the Bergstrasse with its famous vineyards and the red sandstone from the Neckar-Odenwald district. In the Seafood Grill restaurant with bar and rooftop terrace on the 15th floor, you can round off the evening in an elegant lounge atmosphere.

Following the design and architectural planning for the new Atlantic Hotel in Heidelberg, all specialist planners and trades operated under one roof in a coordinated and results-orientated manner right from the start. ‘It's always an advantage to be able to rely on long-term partnerships for major projects. You know the strengths and expertise of those involved in the project, which means that even tight schedules can be adhered to and unforeseen difficulties can be quickly resolved during the execution phase,’ says Managing Director Marcus Malte Müller von BRUMANN. Zech Bau SE as general contractor and BRUMANN as general contractor for the interior fit-out & FFE realised the project in close coordination and were able to flexibly implement changes and optimisations directly with the hotel management without any loss of time or interfaces.
