Having been rewarded the urban design competition in 2012, our office was commissioned by the Kreisbau Filstal GmbH with the construction of first three of the four planned buildings.
Supportive of the offset building volumes, a differentiated facade design takes effect. While a part of each building is decorated with bright plaster facade, the attached structure forms of tailed a similar counterpart in dark appearance. Since the basic structure of facade was strict, it gained playfulness and individuality by terraces, upright window formats and balconies.
Each level includes three or four apartments, with each unit being naturally exposed to light at least from two sides. The apartments feature spacious and cohesive living, dining and kitchen areas.
All units have private loggias. Basically, all the apartments are oriented to at least two, mostly three sides. This may result in living situations where bathrooms and kitchens are naturally lit and ventilated.
Access is granted on a side road parallel to the residential area with above-ground parking spaces and driveways to garages including bicycle cellars. Within walking distance, the buildings are barrier-free, in combination with different types of housing intergenerational living is possible.
