Bungalow living
A bungalow from the late 1970s is the new home of Talitha and Michael Bainbridge and their children. The two young interior designers are the brains behind ZWEI Design, a studio specialising in interior design and product design, mainly active in the area of Basel, Lörrach and Freiburg. They have transformed the almost 125 m² living space in their newly acquired low-rise building into a very contemporary and comfortable home piece by piece over the last year with great enthusiasm and personal effort. A successful business card has been created for the work of the two interior designers, who recognise their new home as a kind of showroom as well.
Before moving in, there was, however, a bit to do. Walls had to be taken out or moved, new doors were necessary, the old floors were worn out and needed replacing. To add to this were new electrics, new heating pipes and new sanitary ware. But the efforts have been worth it! In all parts of the building, the new interior now breathes with an elegance of the zeitgeist and a modern attitude towards life. The living room is connected to the dining room with a wide opening, the kitchen adjoins this, a corridor connects two children’s rooms, the parent’s bedroom and the large bathroom. The furnishings are composed stylishly of enduring classics and new design pieces. Elegant wall colours form the background. The kitchen and bathroom have become highlights: The kitchenette is finished in quality wood, the wet room in dark, natural stone.
Specially selected accessories and coherent details complete the overall impression. The owners have focussed on quality and design, right up to the light switches and sockets. In all rooms, solutions from JUNG are used for the electrical installation. In the kitchen and dining room, the LS 1912 switch range in stainless steel appeals with its elegant appearance. The toggle lever switches are installed flush in frames and flush-mounted boxes from the LS ZERO system, partly in combination with appropriate sockets. The LS 1912 was also used in the bathroom and the parent’s bedroom in the classic brass design. On the left and right next to their bed, the Bainbridges had in each case two sockets with USB sockets installed. In this way, smartphones and tablets can charge while they sleep. In the living room in turn, the couple used the classic JUNG LS 990 in light grey for switches and sockets. In the two children’s rooms, on the other hand, colours from the colour range of Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier from JUNG were included in the electrical installation. A deep red was chosen along with a lively green. As a result, the rooms were given an individual touch in each case.
