The two-storey building containing two semi-detached houses is located in Alstertal, a particularly quiet residential area in Hamburg. The structure, consisting of two blocks shifted slightly away from each other horizontally, is purposely developed to appear as one unit, forming a holistic ensemble despite the division into two homes. The horizontal theme is emphasized by the facade material, a particularly wide form of brick, and the deepening of the horizontal joins. A dark wood material was specifically chosen in order to accentuate the facade. Large glass panels overlooking the park-like gardens in the south and airy spaces in the living quarters augment the open nature of the two large units. The homes are built to energy-efficient standards.
