The Elbphilharmonie will be the Western landmark of the HafenCity, an exciting building consisting of old and new parts – bricks and glass – a building accommodating a part of town with a central concert hall. The light sensually enhances this organism that becomes even more alive at night-time. Sensual because the Elbphilharmonie is a thoroughly thought through compilation of different surfaces – daylight and artificial light touching or penetrating various structures, brilliances and colours create the specific feel and character of the space.
