A three-storey research building for the Institute of Energy Process Engineering and Chemical Engineering is going to complement the TU Bergakademie in the near future. A glass joint links the new building to the existing part, offering the chance to round off the former colliery site and to ground the Institute.

The new address will be clearly defined by a bridge to the entrance. In this area, characterized by mining industry, the building presents itself with a layered facade of highly engineered window bands and polished strips of render alike a kind of seam architecture: Corporate architecture as a link of technical innovation and a reference to the location.
