Scope
7,500 SF private residence. Architecture/Interior finishes
Location
Aspen, Colorado
La Nubia extracts maximum enjoyment with minimal impact on the environment—creating an architecture of delicate contrast-- dramatic and powerful, yet romantic and highly comfortable. Inspired by the natural wonders of Aspen and the scenic creek which runs along side the property, the structure is reduced to its essence becoming subservient to the spectacular view of 14,000 foot peaks and the historical mining town below. Indigenous materials extracted from the local mountains and reclaimed barn wood meld the home with its surrounds—visually, and spiritually. Exceeding all stringent Colorado standards for energy efficient design, great sensitivity has been employed towards ecological sustainability and healthy building strategies. Mature trees and dramatic red-rock outcroppings frame a stream fed basking pool, stone fire pit and other outdoor living areas that capitalize the context.
