Year
2007

The project is located on the southern part in the conversion area of St. Georg Hospital, Hamburg into housing and office use. Two boomerang-shaped building structures leave an open, transitional space from the street to the green area of the housing blocks in the rear. On top are located two further “boomerangs” – now with changed direction, thus allowing direct sunlight into the building structure and distant views out of every office space.

The building goes far beyond the ecological standards of a simple „green building“. With its specific qualities it responds to all aspects of sustainable architecture: ecological non-objective materials, low
energy consumption for heating, cooling and lighting, high functionality and flexibility for todays and future means of use - yet keeping the tight budget of a standard office building investment. The realisation received the highest seal for sustainable architecture in Germany, the Gold Certification of the DBNG (German Sustainable Building Council).
