1. THE LARGE SCALE
Nyon slopes gently down to the lake, crossed by a system of vertical connections following the Jura - Lake or North - South direction. The special position of Place Perdtemps, located between the tree-lined valley of Asse and the historic urban center, offers the opportunity to forge a strong link between these two entities that are the city and the river by connecting the city center with the Asse green corridor and the more territorial scale.
2. PARK MOVEMENT: natural topography
The movement of the topography of Nyon, according to the preceding paragraph, is that of a series of uplifts and depressions of the land between the valleys of rivers, slope and counter slope with prominent points such as the Place du Château which is the one of the highest in the city.
The park movement follows this pace and fits into the natural topography of the site.
3. THE FRONT ON VIOLLIER AVENUE
This topographical movement of the park allows the establishment of a front along Avenue Viollier which can host small businesses reinforced by the loop of addresses.
The size of this front makes it possible to maintain a large clearance at the corners of the Richard and Saint Jean plots, which have always been the fast lanes of relationship between Ville and Perdtemps.
These two connecting axes are, moreover, the green corridors which will bring biodiversity between City and River, as described in the first point.
In addition, the openings of this front are also opportunities for visual openings of the city towards the park and to lower the plantations to the level of the avenue, and make it possible to establish visual and physical relations between the urban avenue on the city side and the natural park on the river side.
4. LANDSCAPING OF THE PARK
The park is presented as a large green esplanade "zigzagged" by paths that integrate both avenue Perdtemps and rue Saint-Jean in their layout and by expanding the boundaries of the park to their respective facades.
The park reinforce the concept of the city - river transition, from mineral to vegetal, from hard to soft.
A transition of landscapes: forest - meadow - glades in the forest - swamp
Between the mouths of the Boiron and Asse rivers, Place Perdtemps forms a large open space in the center of the urban fabric. Its regular geometry can be read like a large compass, the sides of which indicate the main atmospheres articulating the landscape of the region: on the one hand, the mountainous relief of the Jura Vaudois Regional Natural Park and on the other hand, on the opposite side, the fertile ones. shores of Lake Geneva.
The texture of the paths crossing the meadow and the park will allow its partial colonization by ruderal species or by those of the meadow itself. This in order to blur the limits, and to achieve the visual integration of the paths in the meadow.
5. “PLACE DES ARTS”
The rue des Marchandises converted into “place des Arts” becomes the urban mineral square around which cling the existing public facilities with a cultural vocation: Communal Hall, Elastique Citrique, Salle des Marchandises, Maison de Quartier La Vie-Là and new ones: Library, Multimedia library, Games library and the future Palais des Congrès.
Its vocation as a place for festivals (Le Village du Réel, La cour des Marchandises du Far °, Le Village des Hivernales) is not only confirmed but extended by the mineral plateau that extends to the south.
6. THE BUILDING OF PUBLIC EQUIPMENT: a canopy open to the park
The building which houses the library, games library and association rooms is presented as a large canopy in continuity with the coffee shop and the entrance to the park of the Communal Hall.
Its location at the corner of Place des Arts and Rue Saint-Jean gives a possibility to contain part of the built volume between park level and the street, allowing direct access from Rue Saint-Jean.
The civic space is designed as an extension of the Place des Arts.
7. COMMERCIAL FACILITIES
Commercial areas are developing along avenue Viollier and rue Saint-Jean, allowing on the one hand the continuity of the loop of addresses around the border between Ville and Par and on the other hand they revitalize the entire perimeter of the Perdtemps Park.
The idea contains concentrating the built part of the project with a certain compactness which makes it possible to exploit the synergies between the various programs: small shops, food retail and parking, and in particular to simplify the access, structure and technical installations.
