Until now, the client has chiefly been involved in developing a number of hot-spring facilities. This project is their first venture in developing a facility with a spa, fitness gym, restaurant and hotel alongside the main hot-spring facility. We participated as design architects to extend the design from a facility to enjoy healing and relaxation, which is the main purpose of a hot spring, to a place where we can extend our daily routine.
For example, the lobby, which is the center of the facility, is a space where you can enjoy in a variety of ways, such as working, talking, or having tea. In addition, we created a space where you can look at the garden over a large basin as a symbol of the facility. Just like the murals of Mount Fuji in the older Japanese bathhouses, we aim to create a space that can be shared by various generations of users.
