The latest architecture-related video from the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art's Louisiana Channel features a 20-minute interview with Spanish architect Rafael Moneo at his studio in Madrid.
Although Marc-Christoph Wagner's interview with Moneo took place in 2017 (it was released just last week), the interview is no less relevant today, given that Moneo speaks about architecture in abstract, theoretical terms: buildings as living things, architecture as an intellectual creation, the functions (or lack thereof) of buildings and their spaces, and buildings contributing to their contexts, among other concerns. Specific projects are mentioned infrequently, making the interview more about Moneo's architectural beliefs than the designs that have made him world famous and have garnered him numerous awards, including the 1996 Pritzker Architecture Prize.
