Fujiko Nakaya: Veil, guarantees to make a strong – if fleeting – impact on the iconic heart of the 47-acre Philip Johnson Glass House campus in New Canaan.
Since Henry Urbach took the helm of The Philip Johnson Glass House in 2012 his curatorial initiatives have been relatively small, such as the flower arrangements and Ken Price sculpture inside the now 65-year-old Glass House that we saw on our visit that same year. But the 2014 installation, Fujiko Nakaya: Veil, guarantees to make a strong – if fleeting – impact on the iconic heart of the 47-acre campus in New Canaan, Connecticut. For 10 minutes every hour the otherwise transparent Glass House will be shrouded in a mist engineered by Nakaya as fresh water is pumped at high pressure through 600 nozzles. After subsiding, the veil of mist is sure to accentuate the transparency of Johnson's signature building for both first-time and return visitors. Fujiko Nakaya: Veil runs from May 1 to November 30, 2014.
