Peter Cook on the Benefits of Drawing by Hand

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art spoke with British architect Peter Cook at his London studio in January, just before the opening of City Landscapes at the Danish Museum.
Perhaps the most surprising snippet in Marc-Christoph Wagner's interview with Peter Cook is the latter's assertion that he was "really not a good drawer" — a "painful drawer" even — in architecture school. Art school improved his drawings, he admits, though even now, at the age of 85, he says he's "still not fluent" at drawing. That's a modest assertion when looking at the impressive, colorful drawings assembled as part of Peter Cook – City Landscapes, some of them shown in this 15-minute film.
Peter Cook – City Landscapes is on display at Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk, Denmark, from January 21 to May 8, 2022.
