VernissageTV, which covers exhibitions and events in the fields of contemporary art, design and architecture, tours the 18th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
The Biennale's main exhibition is curated by Lesley Lokko under the title The Laboratory of the Future. The theme, focused in large part on Africa and the African Diaspora, asked invited participants to use decolonization and decarbonization as the guiding framework for their contributions, which range from traditional architectural media (drawings and models) to artworks and many, many films.
The exhibition is organized into four sections — “Force Majeure,” “Dangerous LIaisons,” “Special Projects,” “Guests from the Future” — that are displayed in two venues: the Central Pavilion in the Giardini, and the Corderie and the Artiglierie in the Arsenale. The two videos made by VernissageTV — straightforward, without any commentary — are structured accordingly.
