Together with architect Christian Heuchel of O&O Baukunst and editor Christiane Fath, World-Architects conceived “Town Planning in Democratic Structures,” a special theme on our platform and now a book.
In “Town Planning in Democratic Structures,” we ask ourselves: How do you build in democratic structures in such a way that the participation of the city's inhabitants is guaranteed? Who develops the city? Are democracies good or a bad builders?
The aim has been to show the current architectural and urban planning approaches and attitudes of the office O&O Baukunst and at the same time to open a multi-layered discussion with many actors from the world of building today.
On June 15, 2023, the special theme culminated with an event during which the following protagonists discussed urban planning issues:
- Prof. Christian Heuchel | O&O Baukunst, Cologne
- Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Sonne | TU Dortmund, Dortmund
- Dr. Tom Schoper | schoper.schoper, Dresden
- Dipl. Ing. Sarah Bolk | Urban Design City of Meerbusch, Meerbusch
- Moderator: Renato Turri | World-Architects, Zurich
(Note: Panel discussion took place in German.)
In addition, a bilingual (German/English) book designed by World-Architects on the occasion of the exhibition SPHINX in the atrium of the NRW Baukunstarchiv in Dortmund compactly summarizes the project. If you are interested in the book, please contact: mail@world-architects.com
