Design Museum's 2014 Designs of the Year

London's Design Museum is devoted to design in various forms, from graphic design and industrial design to furniture and buildings. This overarching emphasis can be found in their large, 3,000-strong collection and in the way they draw attention to innovative design through the annual Designs of the Year competition. For the seventh year the museum has awarded winning designs in seven categories. Most relevant here is Zaha Hadid's winning Heydar Aliyev Center in Azerbaijan. The project beat out 12 shortlisted projects, including David Chipperfield's Museo Jumex, John Pawson's St. Moritz Church, and Lacaton & Vassal's Frac Nord-Pas de Calais.
