“What Goes into a Book?”
Explore contemporary book design for art and architecture at a new Graham Resource Center (GRC) exhibition. “What Goes into a Book?” surveys the process of book design and the relationships between content, agency, and design. The exhibition runs from November 2024 to May 2025 in S. R. Crown Hall, and is free and open to the public.
Documentary and archival material from three celebrated book design studios—McGinty; Monograph; and Normal—illustrate the processes, inspirations, and materials used in designing contemporary art and architecture books.
The GRC will host a panel discussion featuring the respective design studios' founders and lead designers—Miko McGinty, Matt Avery, and Lucas Reif—on November 4 at 6 p.m. in S. R. Crown Hall. The opening event is free and open to the public.
