37 000 sqm office space including 6 000 sqm of shops, restaurants, cafés and conference area
Mästerhuset at Mäster Samuelsgatan in central Stockholm contains offices with a capacity of 3,000 work places and a commercial ground floor. The challenge has been to create a modern and flexible office building of high international standard and at the same time bring more street life and businesses to the area.
The building is permeated by quality materials and is expected to become the first new construction in Stockholm with the internationally recognised environmental certification LEED-NC 3,0 Platinum. The surrounding area is also given new life with a new connection between Mäster Samuelsgatan and Hamngatan—two major streets in the city.
As Sweden´s oldest architecture firms, Tengbom is responsible for several of Stockholm's iconic buildings. Mästerhuset is a space built on tradition. The sculpted atrium, energy customized façade and the surface water running through the meadows of its roof terrace are a few examples of how a focus on quality and sustainability has been translated into modern environments, in a building that harmonizes with the townscape.
The design was based on a Scandinavian palette of wood and stone, with elements of glass and metal. Three-metre high windows and a central atrium with a glass roof provide optimum natural light. The building has ten flexible floors that can be designed as needed. The premises will provide improved services on the ground floor, including a restaurant with 300 seats complete with a glazed lobby that helps to create a lively street environment. The building also features a landscaped roof terrace with breath taking views over Stockholm harbour.
Tengbom has worked on behalf of Pembroke Real Estate since 2009 from the initial feasibility study to the finished building. Quality, durability and flexibility have been present throughout the entire process. The total surface area is 37.000 sqm of office space including 6.000 sqm of shops, restaurants, cafés and a conference area.
