Stefano Boeri Architetti, architect of the award-winning Bosco Verticale in Milan, has created a short film that draws attention to the role of trees in mitigating climate change, released to coincide with the announcement of next year's inaugural World Forum on Urban Forests.
Who better to promote the World Forum on Urban Forests than Boeri? The success of Bosco Verticale, which was named the best tall building of 2015 by CTBUH, has led the Italian architect to undertake variations on the vertical-green theme, such as the Nanjing Vertical Forest underway in China. The short film assembles Boeri and other architects in his office holding up placards, à la Bob Dylan, with data about the carbon output of cities and the benefits of more trees in cities. With a global temperature increase of approximately 1ºC since 1880, next year's Forum cannot arrive soon enough.
The World Forum on Urban Forests takes place in Mantova, Italy, next year from 28 November to 1 December.
