The European Commission and the Fundació Mies van der Rohe have announced the 40 shortlisted works that will compete for the 2015 European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
The 420 works nominated for the prize were announced in December 2014. From that list the jury selected the shortlist of 40 works before determining the 5 finalists that will be announced by the end of February.
The 40 works are located in 17 countries, with close to half consisting of cultural projects and smaller percentages of educational, mixed-use, religious and urban design. The 40 works can be found on the EU Mies Award website, and the exhibition of all 420 projects is at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) until 19 March.
The winner will be announced at a special event at the Mies van der Rohe pavilion in Barcelona on 8 May.
