Tishman Speyer has announced that construction of The Spiral, designed by BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, will commence in June, after the developer finalized a lease with Pfizer for 800,000 square feet in the 2.8-million-sf tower.
The Spiral was unveiled in early 2016 as another major element in the massive Hudson Yards development underway on Manhattan's West Side. The 65-story, 1,031-foot-tall office tower takes its name from BIG's design, which features an ascending ribbon of green terraces that visually extend the nearby High Line and Hudson Boulevard Park into the sky.

The pharmaceutical corporation Pfizer will move its global headquarters from East 42nd Street, near the United Nations, to fifteen stories in The Spiral at 66 Hudson Boulevard, at West 34th Street. Their 20-year lease as anchor tenant has enabled Tishman Speyer to close on a series of transactions securing the financing for $3.7 billion project.

Tishman Speyer President and CEO Rob Speyer describes The Spiral as "the world’s most connected and collaborative office environment. With its iconic design, amazing views and abundant access to outdoor amenity spaces, The Spiral will serve as a major leap forward in the evolution of the modern workplace."

Bjarke Ingels describes the design of The Spiral, at spiralnyc.com: "Designed for the people who occupy it, The Spiral ensures that every floor of the tower opens up to the outdoors creating hanging gardens and cascading atria that connect the open floor plates from the ground floor to the summit into a single uninterrupted work space."
